From “Cooperative DRONE PAINTINGS” to “PLA-Spectators” and “AUTONOMOUS PLAY” objects The artistic research projects “The Psycho-Ludic Approach. Exploring play for a viable Future – AR787” (FWF/PEEK) and “ROBOPSY (WWTF) An Artistic Exploration of Collective Memory through Role-Playing with AI Language Models (ICT23-020) / Digital Humanities. TOY_ OBJECTS” come together in an exhibition that treats play as a site of exploration. Drawing on experimental psychology, neuroscience and artistic practice, the works examine how games encode the logics by which we live—conquest, accumulation, winning—and what happens when these logics are turned on their head. Current global crises suggest that humanity’s strategies based on exploitation are reaching their limits. These strategies are deeply embedded in the mechanisms of games and play. Taking this interconnection as its starting point, this exhibition presents selected results from ongoing research: installations, prototypes and provocations that challenge familiar notions of agency, perspective and motivation. COME CO-PLAY with us!
