How can artists respond to a present marked by crises, conflicts, and overwhelming problems? The posters created in the seminar are visual responses to this question: warnings, appeals, counter-images, questions, and attempts to convey an attitude. In doing so, the works draw on the history of the poster as a medium that bridges art, the public sphere, design, and political communication. A poster is meant to be seen, but not merely to please. It can disturb, provoke, mobilize, or inspire reflection. It is precisely its concise form that makes it a precise artistic medium for a confusing time. The exhibition shows what can emerge when young artists question their artistic practice in a world in turmoil or choose to take a concrete stance.
