In Swiss poster culture, there is a special tradition of typographically dominant “Yes” and “No” posters. It originates from the system of direct democracy, in which citizens vote “yes” or “no” on political decisions. In the lead-up to such votes, poster campaigns accompany the process and shape public space through bold yes/no typography. This distinctly “Swiss” characteristic served as the starting point for the course supervised by Astrid Seme and for the resulting poster exhibition, in which the students themselves take a programmatic stance. The resulting spectrum ranges from “Yes to handstands in the water” to “No to the AfD election manifesto.”
